Ultra High-Definition (4K) video is the next big step in TV technology. While owners of 4K TVs aren’t totally starved of content, there is still a long journey ahead with most content available only by streaming services such as Netflix, Vudu and Amazon.
With that said, 4K fans can find a fair amount of movie releases in store that employ this high-def technology. On a recent store check at Best Buy, we came across this floor display merchandising the latest 4K box office releases.
At first glance, seemed like a simple, everyday movie display but then ‘whamo’, the riser attracted us like a fishing lure. The die cut windows on all 4 sides revealed the shiny jewel on the inside……a holographic, x-shaped ‘partition’.
Randomly printed with HD messaging, the holographic substrate was extremely effective in bouncing light off of the angled panels, grabbing the attention of shoppers near the check-out lines. Sometimes it only takes one or two elements to pull off that show-stopping effect that POP is known for. In this case, focusing all of the ‘bling’ at eye level was a great design and marketing decision.
