It is 4:45 on a Friday.
Eleven pallets are staged at the dock.
One person walks backward around them with a roll of film, and everyone in the building knows the last three will get wrapped faster than the first three.
That is not a knock on the person doing the wrapping. It is just what happens at the end of a shift.
The trailer doesn’t know the difference, and neither does the customer who opens the doors Monday morning and finds a load leaning against the wall.
Robotic wrapping exists because that inconsistency is expensive, and because it is one of the few problems on a plant floor that equipment can actually solve.
What is Robotic Wrapping?
Robotic wrapping is pallet wrapping done by a self-propelled machine that drives around a stationary load, applying film at a set pre-stretch and tension on every revolution.
There is no turntable and no fixed footprint. The operator stages the pallet, presses start, and the wrapper does the walking.
The important word is “every.” A robotic wrapper applies the same pattern to pallet eleven that it applied to pallet one, at 4:45pm on Friday and at 7:00am on Monday.
That consistency is the entire point, because the thing that actually holds a load together is containment force, and containment force is a product of repeatability…….
