I’m seeing more of these merchandising vehicles show up across store walks lately. And here’s what’s interesting.
They’re not specifically called out in most retailer style guides.
Yet they continue to appear in high-traffic aisles because they work.
These programs are not ones we at Bay Cities executed. Just observations from the field. It is one of my favorite vehicles I’ve produced for brands. But there is a reason brands keep using them.
Why mini sidekicks win, according to me:
They have a small footprint.
They do not disrupt the aisle or create congestion. That makes them easier for retailers to approve and easier for stores to live with.
They act like a marketing billboard.
Compact but powerful. In a traditional aisle full of sameness, they break pattern. If the message is clean and concise, they are hard to miss. Graphics can be refreshed and the structure reused.
They can drop almost anywhere.
With the right clip or attachment, they turn existing fixtures into incremental selling space. That flexibility is valuable during line reviews and seasonal pushes.
They are built for seasonal rotation.
Easter. Holiday. Back to School. Mother’s Day. New Year resets. One structure, multiple campaigns. Bulk production can reduce tooling and overall program cost.
They ship efficiently.
You can maximize pallet density compared to endcaps, half or full pallet displays. In some cases, they even work for small parcel programs depending on the retailer.
They are easy in-store.
Store associates can set them quickly without a dedicated install team. That simplicity matters, especially in high-velocity environments.
For emerging brands or established brands looking for incremental space, this vehicle deserves a slide in the pitch deck.
